On Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 The Washington Hose Company placed Traffic 41 into service. Traffic 41 is a 2016 Ford E350 DRW Gas chassis with a Knapheide KUV Utility Body (Model: KUV153DH) with walk in storage. The vehicle was purchased from Brian Hoskins Ford in Caln Township by Coatesville Firemen's Relief Assoc. Lettering was done by Tam Arte Design Studio and lighting was installed by Metropolitan Communications, Inc.

Since going into service the unit has already responded to over 50 calls! However, only just recently was the unit outfitted (July 13th, 2017) with its most unique feature, a variable message board (due to Trafcon's 7 week production schedule.)

Members took notice of the advancement in vehicle mounted arrow board technology being used by PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and State Farm Roadside Assistance on a trip to Pittsburg for the Fire Rescue Conference in early March. Vehicle mounted LED variable message boards (Trafcon Arrow Dynamic Sign®) combine the clarity of a text message with the impact of graphic message. In addition to common directional arrows, variable message boards can alert drivers that there is a "crash ahead", to "use caution", or that an "exit is closed", etc. The variable message board is programmable up to 200 sequences from a laptop computer and is controlled from the vehicle cab by a handheld controller with a digital display and keypad.

Vehicle Features:
- 360 degree reflective vinyl lettering with front & rear chevrons and battenburg markings/patterns on either side for conspicuity.
- Traffic Advisor
- Tracon MB-ADS Arrow Dynamic Sign® 3x2 Variable Message Board (62in X 30in)
- Whelen M series & DaMeGA Engineering Lighting
- Wig Wag Headlight Flasher
- Whelen Side Turn Signal Indicators
- Whelen Rear Facing Turn Arrows
- Whelen M6 series (side) and Pioneer Micro Pedestal Mount (rear) Scene Lighting
- 100 watt Federal Signal Siren
- Opticom

- Kussmaul Auto Charge
- Harris Mobile
- Traffic Cones
- Traffic Cone Bars
- Collapsable Road Signs
- LED Road Flares
- Caution Tape

We believe this is the safest traffic unit in Chester County if not the safest in Pennsylvania. At the Washies we continue to push the envelope in design, innovation, and training to provide the highest level of safety to our crew members and the public.

I'll give you Chester Co. but not the state. LOL. No seriously, beautiful truck. Almost exactly like ours.
