By Coatesville Fire Department
January 29, 2010
On January 29Th 2010 The Coatesville Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Lincoln Highway for a reported odor investigation inside a local business.
Engine 41-2, Ladder 43, Ambulance 41-2, Deputy Chief Pacana all made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported an odor of something burning inside. Ladder 43 was the first arriving unit to find nothing showing from the exterior. Engine 41-2 was given orders to stage at the hydrant and have their personnel assist the Ladders crew with the investigation inside of the local business.
Deputy Chief Pacana arrived and setup the " Lincoln Highway Command" while crews investigated an odor of kerosene. Crews tracked down the cause to be a kerosene heater being used next to the business. The occupants of that business were ordered to shut down the heater due to the fumes it was putting off. Deputy Chief Pacana placed the situation under control while the interior crew setup a positive pressure fan to the front door of the businesses to help ventilate the fumes from the building.
All Coatesville Fire Department units were available a short time later and the command was terminated.
