By Coatesville Fire Department
January 30, 2010

On January 30Th 2010 at 11:11 am The Pomeroy Fire company Along with engines from Westwood, Modena, Parkesburg and Ladder 43 were dispatched to Lyons Lane in East Fallowfield for a reported house fire.

The reporting party advised the Chester County 911 Center that he could see smoke coming from a single family dwelling. Shortly after the East Fallowfield Police Department arrived to confirm a fully involved house. Engine 29-5 was the first arriving suppression piece they dropped a 5 inch supply line while their crew immediately deployed hand lines to fight the fire.

Engine 29-5 setup the "Lyons Lane CP" while Captain 29 "Dalmas" handled the operations. Lyons Lane CP immediately called for a first alarm tanker task force due to that portion of East Fallowfield having no fire hydrants. Ladder 43 arrived a short time later but was unable to get up the street due to the tight streets. All units were given the orders to park along Strasburg Road and have their crew report to the rear of 29-5 where the manpower pool was being setup. The first alarm Tanker task Force brought the following Companies in to the scene Martins Corner, Cochranville, Christiana (Lancaster County) West Bradford, Atglen.

All Crews worked well together with performing fire suppression and salvage and overhaul operations. Lyons Lane CP requested Peco to the scene to shut off the electric going to the house. At the same time Pennsylvania American Water was given a notification for use of the hydrants in the Valley Crossing Development to refill the tankers.

Lyons Lane CP requested the standbys from 29,44,37 to the scene to assist with an extended salvage and overhaul operation for manpower due to limited man power on the scene. Lyons Lane CP also requested a response from the Red Cross for the displaced owners of the home while also placing the fire under control at 12:30.

Ladder 43 cleared the scene at 13:04 hours with their crew remaining on the scene to assist with packing hose lines and cleaning hand tools.
